How to Humanize Your Brand

Empathy is all about belonging and meaningful connection. Connecting on an emotional level with your tribe stokes that feeling of belonging in individual members, further encouraging them to be lifelong, loyal customers—which is your ultimate goal.

 

Your tribe should value your values and support your mission—whatever that may be. Genuinely cultivate a sense of community among your fan-base by driving deep emotional connections using the following tips: 

 

  • Tell stories. As human beings, we are drawn to stories because they are excellent tools for making sense of a sometimes senseless world. Share your personal brand story and find ways to connect individual accounts within it. 
  • Provide value. Be a valuable resource for your customers to turn to when they want to learn and do more with what you have to offer. You can accomplish this through blog posts, live social media videos, webinars and other forms of content.  
  • Be consistent.  Especially now, as the world continues to change, being consistent is crucial. Consistency in how your message is shared and how your customers are treated will go a long way in developing a loyal community. 

 

As human beings, we are both hardwired for stories and connections. These are two tools we use to find meaning and purpose in our lives. We seek people, places and things we can believe in and feel good about. 

 

Although connecting on an emotional level seems somewhat intangible, it is key to effective, empathetic marketing. Your primary goal is to write and create content that demonstrates the impact your product and services have on your audiences’ daily life. 

 

None of us were prepared for the first half of 2020. There’s no playbook for where we are now, which is why this moment is so unique. Now’s the time to take a serious look at your marketing strategy and adopt a new way of putting your message out into the world.
